HOSHIARPUR, APRIL 13: Punjab Food & Civil Supplies Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu today said that the Punjab Government was committed to regular the services of contractual employees in all departments as the decision of High Powered Committee of Cabinet, for chalking a plan in this regard, is on the anvil.

                After election of mayor in local Municipal Corporation complex accompanied by the Industries and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora, Food & Civil Supplies Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu while interacting with the media persons said that Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was fully cognizant of regularising the services of contractual and other employees and the decision of the High Powered Committee would come soon so that these employees could be adjusted. He said that the decision in this regard would be taken by the State Government in a month or two.

Answering another query, Ashu stated that the procurement had been commenced across state and was going smoothly without any glitch. He said that the State Government had made elaborate arrangements in the mandis to facilitate the farmers as well as other stakeholders besides keeping the strict adherence of COVID-19 guidelines. He said that the procurement was being ensured by arthiyas through concerned agencies wherever the wheat crop arrived in the state mandis and there were no obstacles in the procurement process so far.

                On the issue of scarcity of gunny bags, the Minister mentioned that the shortage of Bardana (gunny bags) was being faced in the country but despite that the Punjab Government had made sufficient arrangements in this regard. He said that the State had also arranged a stock of plastic (PP) bags which could be utilised in future as per the need. He also assured the farmers and arthiyas that State Government is committed to procure and lift every single grain of the farmers as well as timely lifting and payments against their crops.

                Meanwhile,  Bharat Bhushan Ashu along with Sunder Sham Arora and other officers went to Grain Market, Rahimpur, where the Minister get started the procurement of a heap of farmer Manjinder Singh of village Salempur.

Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included ADC (G) Amit Kumar Panchal, Chiarman Market Committee Rajesh Gupta, Senior Vice Chairman of Punjab Large Industries Development Board Ramesh Joshi, Lala Janak Raj, Rahul Gohil, Anil Kumar, Tilak Raj and others.
