Bail application of a accused taking Supari to kill Harbhajan Singh Dhatt dismissed

Hoshiarpur : Ms Jatinder Kaur, Additional Sessions Judge, Hoshiarpur, in her order of February 15, 2022 has dismissed the bail application of Gurjit Singh of Moonak in FIR No.5 of January 5, 2022 registered under sections 115, 120B/34 of the IPC and sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act in Tanda police station against him.

Jatinder Kaur in her order said that during investigation of the aforesaid case Gurjit Singh got recorded his statement in which he stated that he knew co-accused Sukhjit Singh, alias Sukha for the last four years and the latter told him that he had close relations with wrestler Jang Bahadar Singh, alias Jang, son of Sampuran Singh of Khurda, who used to come to his college. Jang Bahadar who had been residing in Canada had allegedly through whatsapp told him that if they kill Harbhajan Singh Dhatt of Ambala Jattan, he would give them Rs. 1.50 lakh.

He would also allegedly provide them pistol to kill Harbhajan Singh Dhatt as the latter had got lodged the FIR against him regarding murder of Kuldeep Singh of Garhdiwala. He discussed the matter with Sukhjit Singh and the latter gave him a revolver of 32 bore and 13 live cartridges for the aforesaid purpose.
Keeping in view the aforesaid disclosure and the recovery effected from the accused there is every possibility that he would try to tamper with the prosecution evidence and dissuade the material witnesses from disclosing before the court whatever he know about the present occurrence in case the accused is released on bail. So, keeping in view the facts and circumstances of the case as wel las seriousness of the offence, no ground is made out to release the accused on bail at this stage, said Jatinder Kaur.
It may be recalled that acting on a tip-off Tanda police arrested Gurjit Singh and Sukhjit Singh of January 5 last while they were going in their Alto Car No. PB-08-CE-1707 from Khudda Kurala to Saran. Police recovered a pistol of 9 MM alongwith a Magazine with 7 live cartridges and a bottle of black colour spray from Sukhjit Singh and a 32 bore revolver loaded with 5 live cartridges and a OPPO mobile phone from Gurjit Singh. Both the accused could not produce any license for keeping the aforesaid arms and ammunition with them.
