Says, 120 centers extending free healthcare services in the district; A total of 2.74 Lakh patients screened so far

Appeals people not to be complacent on count of following COVID precautions including wearing of mask

Punjab Industry and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora on Saturday asserted that the Tandarust Punjab Health and Wellness centers would further give a fillip to the healthcare facilities besides strengthening medical infrastructure in Punjab.

Participating in a state-level virtual event to dedicate 107 Tandarust Punjab Health and Wellness centers across state by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, the Industries Minister accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyat said that a total of 120 health and wellness centers were active in the district. These 120 centers include 87 sub-health centers, 31 primary centers, and two city health centers at Purhiran and Aslamabad, he added.

He said that apart from deploying community health officers and adequate nursing staff, the requisite healthcare infrastructure had also been provided to these centers so that people could take the benefit of quality healthcare services nearby their homes.

Thanking Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for this unique initiative, Sunder Sham Arora said that these centers played a significant role in providing healthcare services to the rural as well as urban population besides ensuring treatment and awareness against different diseases. He further mentioned that with path-breaking initiatives in the fields of health and education, Punjab would certainly emerging as a leading state at on country’s map of health and education sectors.

Responding to a query on the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the minister said that the entire Punjab was indebted to the health workers and other concerned departments, whose concerted efforts helped in keeping this deadly virus under check.

Arora further called upon people to keep following the safety precautions like wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and washing hands, etc without any fail as these precautions are only the key to keep this virus at bay until any vaccine developed.

Prominent among others included Chairman Improvement Trust Advocate Rakesh Marwaha, Civil Surgeon Dr. Jasvir Singh, Captain Karamchand.

Requisite staff and infrastructure available in health and wellness centers in Hoshiarpur

Tandarust Punjab Health and Wellness Centers were having requisite staff and infrastructure, said Industry and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora. He mentioned that the centers were not only providing free treatment to the patients but also sensitizing them against the Covid-19 pandemic. The healthcare facilities include special care for pregnant women and infants, emergency health services, family planning, treatment and screening of T.B., Malaria, Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure, and cancer.

The centers also undertake various activities like counseling for mentally-ill patients, telemedicine, and special care for old-age persons, etc. So far, a total of 2,74,343 patients got registered in these centers comprising 1,99,044, and 77,693 patients for hypertension and Blood Sugar, respectively.
