DHO COLLECTS SAMPLESOF MILK, MILK PRODUCTS & JAGGERY
 
SAYS PURE & QUALITY FOOD PRODUCTS BE ENSURED TO MAKE MISSION TANDRUST PUNJAB A GREAT SUCCESS 
 
ADULTERATION WILL NOT BE TOLERATED, STRICT ACTION TO BE INITIATED 
 
HOSHIARPUR, JANUARY 21 (Adesh , Karan Lakha) :- Reiterating commitment to ensure the availability of pure and quality food items in district, the District Health Officer Dr. Lakhvir Singh today visited various places and took 10 samples of milk, milk products, jaggery, and other products which are being sent to Food and Drug Testing Laboratory, Kharar.
 
Divulging more information about the sampling , Dr. Lakhvir Singh said that he along with his team members took samples from Verka Milk Plant at village Ajjowal and various jaggery production units at Hoshiarpur-Dasuya Road. He said that the team had collected four samples of milk and milk products from Verka Milk Plant while six samples of jaggery have been taken from units on Dasuya Road. After sending these samples to laboratory, the health officials would receive report  within 3 weeks.
 
The DHO said that the purpose of sampling was not to pose any panic among the people but to create awareness among the people about our pure and quality food and eatable especially amid COVID-19 pandemic besides encouraging those eating joints, sweet shops which are providing health and nutritious food items.  He said that adulteration would not be tolerated at any cost and strict action would be initiated against those found indulged in this malpractice.
 
Urging  the manufacturers and sellers of food items in the district to ensure strict compliance of Food Safety and Standards Act 2006, Dr Lakhvir Singh called the owners of eating joints,street vendors, sweet shops, dhabas etc for mandatory registration. 
 
 
The DHO appealed to the food manufacturers and sellers to make pure and quality food products to the people so that the mission was to make Tandarust Punjab a huge success.  He emphasized that in view of the Covid-19, proper cleanliness must be ensured in food shops, stalls, dhabas and sweet shops. 
 
Stressing that the campaign against adulteration would be intensified in the coming days, the District Health Officer solicited people support and said that this mission could not be successful without their active participation.
