DIRECTS SDMs TO SUBMIT LISTS OF 21 VILLAGES FOR THESE THREE DAYS TO COVER SEVEN IN ONE DAY

Hoshiarpur: With a view to ensure 100 percent COVID vaccination in rural areas, the District Administration is all set to start vaccination at doorsteps in villages by holding exclusive mega vaccination camps on every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The step is aimed to cover all eligible beneficiaries with requisite dose of vaccine in villages.

Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait on Thursday evening directed the SDMs to oversee this door-to-door drive personally besides ensuring to cover at least seven villages in a day in their respective areas so that 100 percent vaccination could be ensured. In a virtual meeting with SDMs, Civil Surgeon, SMOs, Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait said that every team of health department comprising doctors, nursing staff and Asha workers must ensure both doses of life-saving jab to the beneficiaries.

Expressing satisfaction over ongoing vaccination drive, Apneet Riyait said that more than 15.96 lakh doses had already been given so far. She asked the SDMs to prepare lists of 21 villages of their areas where vaccination could be be carried out successfully on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with seven villages in each day. She also solicited fulsome support of NGOs, social organizations, and others in making the door to door Covid vaccination drive huge success. She said that apart from this the immunisation is being carried out ast designated placed in urban as well as rural areas.

Pertinently, as many as 1596102 doses of Covid vaccine have been administrated in the district including 1359870 doses of Covishield and 236232 of Covaxin. Of these, 863165 doses had been given as first dose of Covishield while 496705 as second dose.Similarly, a total of 141726 first dose of Covaxin and 94506 second doses had been administered in the district.
