WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY: SURVEILANCE TEAMS CHECK LARVA IN 3048 HOUSES & 22747 CONTAINERS SO FAR

HOSHIARPUR, JUNE 5: To mark World Environment Day, the dengue surveillance teams today conducted door-to-door campaign to check and destroy the larva, on the spot, found in houses and containers at different places.

Dengue Surveillance Teams (DST), an initiative of District Administration, have checked 1593 houses on Saturday with spotting larva in 71 houses.  A total 12068 containers have also been checked of which 76 found having larva.

Elaborating about the DSTs, Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait mentioned that the teams had checked as many as 1455 houses on first day and found larva in 65 houses. Similarly, 10679  containers were also inspected of which 67 had larva.  The Deputy Commissioner also pointed out that the concerted efforts of surveillance teams would ensure timely checking of mosquito level as well as to destroy larvae breeding in stagnant water in coolers, plastic and other vessels. The teams, said Riyait, visited different places in Dasuya and Hoshiarpur urban areas, where they also sensitised residents on preventive measures besides destroying karva at source.

Urging people to be fully vigilant especially amid amid COVID-19 pandemic, Apneet Riyait said that people should extend all possible cooperation to teams so that the mosquito menace could be tackled efficaciously in view of ongoing health crisis. She also said that the checking campaign would be further intensified in days to come to keep the mosquito breeding at bay.
