In a move aimed at boosting healthcare infrastructure in Jalandhar, district administration is all set to commence the construction of two PSA based oxygen generation plants for government hospitals.

Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that the first plant with the capacity of 1000 LPM to come up at civil hospital Jalandhar while second plant having capacity of 200 LPM to be developed at Nakodar Sub Divisional Hospital. He stated that both the projects would strengthen the existing oxygen generation capacity in government run healthcare institutions adding there is already an oxygen plant working in Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Civil Hospital Jalandhar.

Presiding over a meeting with the nodal officers appointed for these projects, the DC asked them to furnish all the modalities within stipulated time-frame. He reviewed the progress of site preparation, installation of electric connection, generator set availability, pipeline for supplying the gas besides other technical works. He directed the concerned officials to ensure timely completion of all the works within the due time limit so as to be able to start these plants before the third Covid-19 wave hits.

Mr. Thori stated that these plants would prove helpful in tackling the next wave of the pandemic effectively; however, Jalandhar is emerging as one of the leading districts in terms of having maximum PSA based oxygen plants in healthcare institutions both in government and private. The DC stated that several hospitals following the administration’s appeal have installed their plants, which helped in becoming self-reliant in oxygen production. He stated that all private hospitals are requested to install their PSA oxygen plants at the earliest to tackle any kind of situation during the third wave.
